Unfortunately, these two social media sites are not intuitively linked to each other that easily. Which is unfortunate because Medium and Linked-In should really have better optimization of the social eco-system.
For example, Medium publications have a social and tags section in the settings that allows for everything that you publish here to be automatically posted in a tweet. There is also a Facebook link that I have yet to try. But let me give you a step by step on that first.
How to connect your Medium to your twitter or facebook.
Step 1:
Go to your profile or publication page. Then in the top right corner click your profile photo for YOUR medium blog or click the publication logo if you’re doing this for your medium publication. A drop down will unfurl upon contact. See the following photos.
For your PERSONAL blog :
For your Publication blog:
Step 2:
Near the bottom of the drop-down, you will see the settings buttons. Click it and then scroll down to enter your twitter and facebook information. Which should be easy enough.
And when you click the publish button to create something new on Medium a dropdown appears (see below). Since I only have my twitter connected I need to click the box and it will be automatically posted on my twitter account.
As for Linked-In
Step 1:
Add you medium information into your Linked-In Profile. By going to your Linked-In profile and clicking on your contact and personal info (here in the bottom right of the photo below). The pencil icon is for editing and the show more reveals more of your information.
Step 2:
I assume this is your first time entering this information so click the pencil icon and popup screen will appear (see below). As you can see I have already done it. But for you, you need to click the add website button in the bottom left of the popup. You enter your URL and then select what type of site it is for you to the right.
Step 3:
To show your publications from medium you need to post them on your profile. And thankfully Linked-In has a publication section for you to put as much as you want.
So go back to your profile page…
and in the top right-click the “Add new profile section”. It will unfurl a dropdown menu. Click the Accomplishments tab and publications should be there. Click it.
Step 4:
This will open a popup for you to add your publication to your profile. Keep the Title, URL, and date the same as what you have from medium. I entered medium as the publisher for the 2nd requirement.
And there you go you have integrated your Linked-In and Medium. It’s unfortunate that you have to go through the last 2 steps for every publication and it isn’t more automated. But maybe that will come further down the road.
Good Luck.
